Mechanism and Usage
Flovent is referred to corticosteroids. Its mechanism is based on suppression of inflammatory processes in the breathing passages if they are related to irritants and allergens in the surrounding air. Flovent can be helpful in averting attacks of spasmodic asthma. Flovent may also be used for other purposes not listed here.
Dosage and Taking
Personal dosage may vary depending on stress, illness, surgery. Another significant factor is a recent asthma bout. If it seems to you that your current asthma medicines fail to prevent or treat asthma bouts effectively, you are strongly advised to discuss it with your physician.
In case manifestations of asthma do not improve in two weeks after their treatment with Flovent, please, consult with you doctor.

Flovent is not suitable for asthma bout that has already started as its mechanism is not quick enough for it. An inhalation substance is preferable for treating an asthma bout.
When in the state of stress, in case of an asthma bout or under other unexpected conditions, patients that had been using an oral steroid before turning to Flovent, are recommended to take their old oral medicine instead. An ID card or a special medical ID guarantees that in an emergency you will be given an oral steroid.
Among possible side-effects from taking steroids for a long time is osteoporosis. Its risk is increased for smokers, people without proper physical activities or with family history of osteoporosis. The lack of vitamin D or calcium in your ration adds to the risk of osteoporosis, too. Contact a healthcare professional for additional information.

Patients with allergic reaction to fluticasone should not take Flovent.
