Periactin (Cyproheptadine)Pharmacological action
Blocker of histaminic H1-receptors with antiserothonine activity. Warns development and facilitates a current of allergic reactions. Renders also antipruritic, antiexudative, anticholinergic and sedative action. The preparation stimulates appetite.
Indications
- Allergic diseases (including an urticaria, a hay fever, a serum disease);
- Dermal diseases (including contact dermatitises, a neurodermite, an eczema);
- A migraine;
- A vasculomotor rhinitis;
- Allergic reactions to reception of medical products, a hemotransfusion, introduction of radiopaque substances;
- An anorexia;
- A chronic pancreatitis (as a part of complex therapy);
- A bronchial asthma (as a part of complex therapy).
Dosage regimen
The adult Periactin is prescr
ibed in an initial daily dose by of 12 mg - on 4 mg (on 1 tablet. Or on 1 dessertspoon of a syrup) 3 times/days
For treatment of a chronic urticaria prescribe in a daily dose of 6 mg - on 2 mg (on 1/2 tablet. Or on 1 teaspoon of a syrup) 3 times/days
At an acute attack of a migraine prescribe 4 mg unitary, in the absence of effect accept Periactin repeatedly in the same through 30 mines; during 4-6 h it is not recommended to exceed a dose of a preparation of 8 mg.
For a maintenance therapy prescribe on 4 mg 3 times/days
At an anorexia the preparation is prescribed in a daily dose by of 12 mg. The maximum daily dose - 32 mg.
To children at the age from 6 months till 2 years Periactin prescribe only in special cases in a daily dose to 400 mkg/kg of mass of a body within 3-4 weeks; at the age from 2 till 6 years - 6 mg/sut; at the age from 6 till 14 years - 12 mg/days At an anorexia prescribe a preparation in a daily dose to 8 mg.
The maximum daily doses of Peritolum make for children at the age from 2 till 6 years - 8 mg, for children at the age from 6 till 14 years - 12 mg.
Side effect
From party TSNS: drowsiness; seldom - giddiness, a headache, anxiety, visual hallucinations.
From the alimentary system: dryness in a mouth, a nausea.
Allergic reactions: an exanthema.
Contraindications
- A glaucoma;
- A good-quality hyperplasia of a prostate, an emiction delay;
- Predisposition to edemas;
- Pregnancy;
- A lactemia (thoracal feeding);
- Children's age to 6 months;
- A hypersensibility to a preparation.
Pregnancy and lactemia
Periactin is contraindicative to application at pregnancy.

Overdosage

Conditions and periods of storage
