Synthroid (Levothyroxine)Pharmacological action
Preparation of hormones of a thyroid gland. Synthetic a thyroxine isomer. In small doses possesses anabolic action. In average doses stimulates growth and development, raises requirement of tissues for oxygen, stimulates a metabolism of fibers, Adepses and carbohydrates, stimulates activity of cardiovascular system.
Indications
Primary and secondary hypothyrosis; the admixed struma; complex treatment of a toxic struma and autoimmune thyroidites, an euthyroid hyperplasia of a thyroid gland; preventive maintenance of relapses after operative treatment of nodal and malignant neoplasms of a thyroid gland; a cretinism.
Dosage regimen
Establish individually depending on indications. Apply in a dose of 1 times/sut of 12 mkg for 20-30 mines to meal.
Side effect
From endocrine system: hyperthyroidism symptoms (are possible at application in high doses, including at too fast rising of a dose in the beginning of course of treatment) - a tachycardia, arrhythmias, stenocardia attacks, a tremor, dream disturbances, feeling of internal anxiety, a hyperhidrosis, loss of mass of a body, a diarrhoeia;
From a metabolism: on occasion - transitional augmentation of mass of a body owing to appetite rising.
Dermatological reactions: on occasion - abaissement of hair.
Contraindications
Uncured hyperthyroidism, hypersensibility to Levothyroxine.
Pregnancy and lactemia
At pregnancy and in a lactemia Synthroid should be applied under observation of the doctor. Application in a combination with thyreostatic agents at pregnancy is contraindicative.
Special indicatings
With extra care apply at patients with cardiovascular diseases (including a stenocardia, a heart failure, a myocardial infarction, an arterial hypertensia). In such cases Synthroid should be applied in a low initial dose, enlarging it slowly and with the big intervals.
At patients of advanced age and at a long current of a hypothyroidism treatment should be begun gradually.
It is not necessary to apply at insufficiency of functions of a cortex of adrenals without an adequate maintenance therapy corticosteroids since against replaceable thyroid therapy development of an acute adrenal crisis is possible.
At application for children in excessively high initial doses probably development of disturbance of function of kidneys. At children with convulsive attacks probably their increase.
Medicinal interaction
At patients with a hypothyrosis and an accompanying diabetes in the beginning of replaceable therapy by preparations of thyroid hormones probably rising of requirement for insulin or peroral hypoglycemic agents.
Colestyraminum reduces absorption Synthroid from GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT.
At fast i.v. introduction of Phenytoinum against reception of Synthroid probably rising of level free Levothyroxine in a blood plasma, arrhythmias thus can be observed.
