Ketaminum salvages from a suicide
Small research of the American scientists has shown, that a preparation for an intravenous narcosis Ketaminum which is also a strong dyssociative hallucinogen, quickly and effectively eliminates suicidal bents at sick of depression. In psychiatric practice quite often there are situations when the depressive patient is pursued by thoughts on suicide. As existing antidepressants start to operate only in some weeks after the treatment beginning, their use in similar situations ineffectively - the patient can settle scores with a life, not having waited effect from therapy.
Researchers from Medical school Maunt in New York have prescribed Sinai to small group of patients with the depression, inclined to suicide, experimental treatment by intravenous injections of Ketaminum.
It was found out, that unitary introduction of this preparation sharply and considerably suppressed suicidal thoughts at patients on an extent at least days after an injection. This effect essentially lasted at introduction of repeated doses of Ketaminum within two weeks.
According to one of researchers Rebecca Price if results of work will prove to be true in more scale tests, intravenous introduction of Ketaminum can become preferable treatment when expectation of effect of traditional antidepressants threatens a life of patients.
