The number of cases of abusing medicines which contain narcotics, in particular syrups from tussis, has increased in some countries. This problem has become aggravated to Bangladesh, Iran, the USA, is informed in the annual report of the International committee on the control over narcotics the United Nations.

The committee has data that in some countries object of abusing are syrups from tussis which structure includes such narcotics as Codeinum, a dihydrocodeine, Ethylmorphinum, Hydrocodonum and folk one, - is spoken in the report.
According to the international experts, with this problem cannot consult both in the USA, and in Europe, in particular East. However about abusing scales these syrups while it is not enough data. In this connection, the committee in 2008 has dispatched the governments of 50 countries the special questionnaire on the facts of loss of such syrups and on abusing them.
In Iran, according to the government, such syrups abuse about 100 thousand persons. In the USA similar predilections teenagers and youth especially suffer. Widespread the use of syrups from tussis among narcodependent in the State of Texas. As authors of the report note, in the majority of the countries narcomaniacs get such syrups in usual drugstores as more often for them the prescription is not necessary. Besides, to buy these medicines it is possible in the black market.
Syrups from tussis get on the black market as a result of leakage from lawful channels of distribution, especially as a result of illegal acquisition at wholesale suppliers or theft from warehouses, from drugstores and medical institutions, - is informed in the report.

The international experts recognise, that syrups from tussis are an effective medicine, however urge all countries to watch closely a problem of abusing them.
