The new research spent by University of John Hopkins, has brought up new questions on efficiency of preparations Zetia and Vytorin, which accept millions Americans to lower cholesterol level in blood, despite doubt in their efficiency which have arisen last year.

According to research data, Zetia has not shown efficiency in reduction of formations by walls of arteries while its "contender" Niaspan has considerably surpassed achievements Zetia. The patients accepting Zetia, are more subject to heart attacks though their quantity is not enough that it was possible to draw certain conclusions.

Zetia «in the market seven years, and we have till now no proofs of that it has justified data of clinical researches», - doctor Roger Bljumental (Roger Blumenthal) from John Hopkins's University has told. Results of new research, in its opinion, will affect the decision of doctors to write out Niaspan.
