Presence and gravity of mental disease associate with the raised risk of an asthma, according to a findings of investigation, published in December release Chest. However, the further researches are necessary for definition of the nature of attitudes and the mechanisms underlying this communication.


Communication of an asthma with psychologic factors was known within many centuries, and recently interest to this theme has again increased, - note doctor Thomas Chun (Thomas H. Chun) (Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island) and colleagues.
Scientists have studied communication between an asthma and mental health in representative sample of the American population, using data of 355 710 subjects who have taken part in the review 2006 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Authors consider, that the given research of communication of an asthma / mental health is greatest of spent earlier.


Deterioration of mental health about which patients reported, immediately associated with probability of a current asthma, authors have found. Besides, as the number of days of deterioration of a mental state was enlarged proportionally to risk of an exacerbation of an asthma.


Prevalence of an asthma has compounded 6,2 % among respondents without problems with mental health, 8,7 % among patients who complained for 1-7 days with the worsened mental state, being enlarged to 10,0 %, 12,8 %, and 21,6 % for subjects with 8-14 days, 15-21 days, 22 days and it is more with deterioration of a mental state, accordingly.


The association between deterioration of mental health and an asthma in the anamnesis was less obvious.


Results also have confirmed, that the age, sex, strain, smoking, the marital status, the general state of health, an exercise stress, adiposity and the social and economic status were key risk of an asthma.


Agreeing with necessity of the further researches, scientists notice, that the carried out analysis really does not differentiate, whether observable communication by simply part between two problems is, or shows a path where one problem is central in development another.
