Technology of vaccines preservation
The report on working out of group of experts under the guidance of Matthew Cottingham from the Oxford university (Oxford University) is published in magazine Science Translational Medicine. To frame the preparations keeping efficiency at heats, researchers used two vaccines on the basis of adenoviruses and poxviruses which are considered as one of the most exacting to storage conditions. To these vaccines scientists have added two kinds of disaccharides - a trehalose and sucrose.
The received solutions dried up on the usual membranous filter. After drying sakchareidos have formed on the filter thin Membranula which protected vaccines from destruction under the influence of an environment. In such condition preparations kept the efficiency within four months at temperature of 45 degrees of Celsius, and at temperature of 37 degrees - within a year.
To prepare the dried up vaccine for use, it is enough to moisten the filter with a preparation water. Cottingham has noticed, that such filters can be stored in the special plastic containers compatible to syringes. The liquid solution from a syringe is entered into the container then the vaccine ready to application is typed back in a syringe.
According to one of authors of research Adrian Hill, necessity of transportation and storage of vaccines at low temperatures considerably enlarges their cost. He has added, that thanks to new working out, programs of bacterination of the population of the countries of Southeast Asia and Africa become more accessible and will capture larger number of participants.
