Mechanism and usage
Tramaden or Tramadol (Ultram, and its extended release Ultram ER) is a prescription analgesic with its mechanism of action resembling morphine. The pain reliever with the additive nature, it is used in patients with moderate to moderate severe pains. Its extended version is recommended in cases of chronic pains that need constant treatment.
Tramaden is sometimes used by healthcare professionals for other purposes that are not mentioned here.
Dosage and Taking
The pill is intended for swallowing without smashing or chewing. If there is powder from a smashed tablet, be careful not to inhale it, not to dilute, and not to inject. An injection or inhalation of Tramaden may lead to life-threatening states, overdosage and fatal outcome.
When taking Tramaden, keep to the recommendations of your physician strictly. Larger doses or prolonged courses are strongly unadvisable. Maximum dosage of Tramaden makes 300 mg per 24 hours.
Important Information
A history of addiction to alcohol or drugs is considered to be a contraindication for taking Tramaden. Similar drug is Tramadol.
Spasms (convulsions) were reported in few people taking Tramaden. Earlier seizures and/or craniocerebral injuries, as well as metabolic disorder together with certain drugs including nausea and vomiting remedies, muscle relaxing medicines and antidepressants are some of the factors that increase the possibility of convulsions in patients treated with Tramaden.

If having taken a larger dose of Tramaden than intended, seek for medical help right away as an overdose may be lethal.
Symptoms of overdose for Tramaden are light-headedness, fainting, short wind, sleepiness and weakness, clammy sweat and skin, coma.
